Facts About Herb Growing

  • Spring is the best time to plant herbs

  • You don't need to have a great big space in order to get enough herbs for your needs.

  • Thyme is a great herb to plant between rocks as it's more of a ground hugging plant.

  • Nasturtiums make a pretty floral color to your garden and the flower (edible) is a great center piece on top of a salad.

  • If you're planting a bigger garden, then do a sketch first, keep the tallest plants at the back, medium in the middle and smallest at the front this way they'll all have maxium light.
Also make sure you have access to each of your plants without having to step over them.

  • Early morning is the best time to pick as that's when the herb is most aromatic.

  • If you're wanting to harvest the seeds then you must keep a vigilant watch on them to pick at the right time.  Pick as soon as the seeds begin to dry but before they disperse.

  • Speaking of seeds, make sure you have good air circulating around them to prevent mould.
